Hazel's Big Week!

This week Jordan's parents were in town for Halle's baby blessing. Halle is Hazel's cousin who is just 6 month younger than her. It was great to have all the family together! Grandma and Grandpa Dayton brought Hazel her birthday present early! It was a little rocking chair. It even has a heart on it which matches her cradle that Papa Veech built for her. We love it!

We spent almost every day of at Jake and Lindsey's and Hazel had a lot of fun playing with her cousins and Grandparents.

Grandma Dayton treated the kids to Build-A-Bear. She was kind enough to even get Halle and Hazel one! Hazel had fun building her bear named Cookie. She even got to pick a heart for it and give it a bath when she was done. Thank you Grandma!

Big News for Hazel this week she took her first step!! Nana Jo was skyping right when it happened and so she saw it too! We were so happy she could be a part of that since she is so far away. It was really special. Jordan had just left for the airport so we quickly called him to see it. She has only been taking little steps here and there, but she is getting better! We are so proud of her!

I have been working on a few sewing projects. These are my first two projects! I did a dust cover for the piano, and a high chair cover for Hazel.

The week of visitors!

Well its been another great week! We had a lot of visitors this week. First Nancy came by with Abi and Bethany. Hazel had so much fun playing with them. It was so nice to see Nancy and catch up. Her girls have grown up so much and they are just adorable! We even got to see Paul for a second when he came to pick them up.

We also had a family get together this Sunday. Danielle, Joey, Nathan and Kelly came over for dinner and we played games. We didn't get to see each other in the holidays so we decided we needed a catch up! Everyone is doing really well. Danielle's belly is growing slowly. She said she can feel her baby move from the inside but no movement from the outside yet. It was great to meet Kelly. She is a really sweet girl and her and Nathan were really cute together (in the picture Kelly has a sock hand puppet on..it was part of the game!) We had a lot of fun playing a game called Quelf!

The Dayton household has been sick this week, but luckily Hazel didn't get it. She is as cute as ever though. She loves to play in her room and pull all her books off the shelf. She is standing and talking and dancing. We just adore her!

Merry Christmas!

Well I guess I better wrap up 2011 before we start with 2012! We were very blessed this Christmas! We got more than we deserved. We have carried on my family tradition of taking pictures of everything we got. I think it will be fun to look back on! Jordan's family has a tradition of getting cereal in their stocking...I got Jordan a cereal called Puffins. I thought it would be fun since we saw real puffins in England together. I thought you would appreciate that Mom!

I was so happy that Jordan got me a sewing machine and serger for Christmas! I have already put the sewing machine to good use with a few projects :)

Hazel had a good time trying to open gifts. She mostly enjoyed being on the floor playing in all the boxes and wrapping paper. I think next year she might understand a little more!

We were so happy that we could spend Christmas together with our little family. It was especially nice to go to Church on Christmas day and remembered that Christmas is really a celebration of our Savior being born. It was a wonderful way to start the day.

This has been such a great week! I have so much to write about. I will probably have to do a different post for Christmas because there are so many fun things to write about the week before.

JORDAN

Jordan got an early Christmas present! After many delays his Dell computer finally came and he is having a great time getting everything organized on it. Every time he shows me what he is doing it looks really boring...but he is having a lot of fun! Its a good thing we both enjoy our jobs around the house :)

HAZEL

Hazel went to her first museum last week. It is a museum on BYU campus called the Bean museum where they have tons of real stuffed animals. She saw a life size elephant! She had so much fun with her cousins Taylor and Gavin. It wasn't very busy so Hazel was able to crawl around and touch some of the activity displays. I love these pictures!

We have also been making Hazel's baby food. Her new favorite combo is carrot pumpkin. Jordan is the official baby food maker in the house. He does a great job :)

Well I promised my Mom to write a blog post every week so she can get updates on Hazel and the family! Here we go..

JORDAN
This month has been a busy one so far for us. I'll update on Jordan first. Just remember it has only been 9 months since his jaw surgery. He had a little scare with his mouth last week. One of his teeth were really hurting and so we went to his orthodontist. He said everything looked good with his teeth and retainer, and advised us to go to a dentist. When he woke up the next day this is what we saw!

His face was so swollen and we were so nervous that it had something to do with his jaw! We went to the dentist and told us it was a bad root canal. We were somewhat relieved! We were able to go see an endodontist that day and get it fixed. Jordan had a good time with the laughing gas :) We were so grateful that things worked out so quickly and that Jordan was able to be out of pain.

JAMIE
This was a good week for me too. My new young women presidency was called. Change is always scary and I have been with the old presidency for a year and a half and I have come to love those women so much! We had a really good time together. They all had a lot going on in their lives with new babies and family matters so it was time for a change. After meeting my new presidency I really feel like we will be a good team. I feel grateful that the Lord has given me motivation and energy for this calling. I don't feel burnt out yet!

HAZEL
On to Hazel! She had a lot of new experiences this week! She had broccoli and peas for the first time and loved it!

She also met a dog for the first time! We visited Loni and Tom and their dog is just Hazels size. He would come right up and lick her in the face and she just giggled. She loves Barley!

She also learned how to clap and put her arms up! It is sooo cute! Here is a little video of her clapping ;)

We also went to see Uncle Nathan's dance performance Christmas Around the World. Nathan was in the Folk Dance Team this year and was in 2 performances during the show. Hazel really enjoyed watching the dancing!

Wow it is time for an update! So much has happened this year!

First we bought a house! Well actually a duplex. Our home is in Provo in a beautiful neighborhood with a perfect view of the Provo Temple. We closed in April and have been working since then to remodel the place. First we worked on the other side. We caulked, cleaned, repainted everything, changed light fixtures and outlets and had new floors put in. It has been so much work, but very rewarding. We had a lot of late nights, but a lot of fun times together doing it. Here are a few pictures to enjoy!

So after 3 months of work and lots of help from friends we finished the other side. We love how it turned out and we now have awesome tenants who are renting it from us. Here are a few before and after shots.

The Blind Date

Okay... well I guess it's my turn to write. Jordan is so great at telling our story, I hope I can do as great as him! So we wanted to tell the story of our first date before we get you caught up to today...

The day was October 10th and our date was at 6:30pm. As Jordan said we had only talked a few times and I was really excited / nervous to meet him. So Jordan came to get me and we met, hugged and left for the best blind date of our lives! He took me to The Italian Place to eat dinner and of course I couldn't decide what to get. We had to eat fast because we had to be somewhere by 7. Jordan hadn't told me what we were doing yet because he said it was a "surprise." Then when we got in the car Jordan blindfolded me! On our first date! I can tell you that it sure did not feel like out first date. Jordan always says that I fell in love with him the day I met him... and I say that HE fell in love with me. Either way we had so much fun and felt so comfortable around each other.

So I was blindfolded and we drove... somewhere. He kept me blindfolded while we walked across the street and into a building and down some stairs. Then he guided me down a huge flight of stairs, through a door and then he finally took off the blindfold. We were standing on the front row of a theater! I was so excited. I love plays and so does Jordan. That's something we love doing together now. Jordan had brought me to see Dial “M” for Murder. It was a BYU production and it was fantastic, and the date continued.

Jordan took me to get ice cream. First we tried the Creamery but it was packed, so we went to Macy’s grocery store and got Peanut Butter Cup ice cream and went back to his house. That’s when I met his roommates, Kirk and Donny. (Two months later we set Kirk up with my old roommate Taunia and they got married two months after us!) So we sat on the love sack in the living room and ate ice cream and talked. Jordan was so interested in me. That is one of the things I love about Jordan. He is still a great listener, and always wants to hear about my day.

We talked for hours. Literally... EIGHT hours. We talked about our jobs, our BYU-Idaho experiences, our families, and our interests. We TALKED all night! ( I want to emphasis talk because we didn’t have our first kiss for 3 more weeks ) So those of you that know me, I am a curfew Nazi! But I couldn’t seem to leave when the clock struck 12. We talked for SIX more hours! Crazy I know! I don’t want to get too cheesy or romantic, but it felt like I had just found my best friend and didn’t want to leave his presence. We talked, Jordan played guitar, we ate cheese balls, and had a lot of laughs. Jordan dropped me off at 6:30am, and then I realized I had unintentionally left my bag (with my keys in it ;-) at his house… after we went back to get it, I ended up rolling into bed at 7am. I actually called my mom before I fell asleep because I felt a bit guilty for staying up sooo late with a boy! She laughed and was excited for me. It wasn't until a couple months later I found out that Jordan also called his mom before he went to bed!

After that day Jordan and I spent everyday together, with a much earlier bedtime, and became closer and closer each day. We love being together. I never got bored of him. He still keeps me laughing everyday and makes me feel beautiful and special. I feel so lucky to have Jordan. I can’t imagine spending my days with anyone else.

Out of Nowhere!

At the end of August, 2009 I moved out of The Branbury; The lovely student housing complex in Provo, UT. So one evening I was just doing the same thing I did every day after work. I was messing around with my roommates and most likely playing some good, loud eclectic music, while making dinner and folding my laundry (typical evening for me), when I received a text message. I was surprised to see that the text was from an old friend at the Branbury, Diannah (Childers) Killian. Her message said:

to me that my roomie may or may not be perfect for you :)

After looking at my phone and thinking of the past few "blind" dates I went on, I was not keen on getting back to her immediately. So, I threw the phone on the couch in my room and went back to my lallygagging. About an hour later I was sitting in my room, at the computer, helping my buddy Zac Erbstoesser decide which laptop he should buy. Our other roomate, Donny Robbins, would always come in and play guitar on my couch while I was on the computer. This day was no different... so he was just kickin' back in the room with us.

About 20 minutes later I looked back at him for some reason (I think it's because he was laughing or he chuckled or something) and he looked guilty as a little boy who just took candy from mom and dad's hidden stash. I asked: "Doooooonny... what are you doing?!" Of course I got the answer of a little thief: "Noooothing..." It was at that point that I noticed he had my cell phone so I snagged it. He had been having a nice little text conversation with my friend, Diannah. This... is where it all began...

So that's where Jamie came from... OUT OF NOWHERE! I ended up taking her out a little over a week later. I called her for the first time on Monday, October 6, 2008. I was a bit nervous because at this point I had seen some pictures of her. I was impressed! Jamie was BEAUTIFUL and looked like she was a lot of fun to be around (the kind of girl I'd been looking for, for years!) She didn't answer the phone so I left a simple message... two little random words came to my mouth when the voicemail beeped and I had to speak: "Knock, Knock..." and then I hung up... What a GOOFBALL, eh!?

Well, she called me back about 15 minutes later and it was sparky little conversation. We talked about recently passed general conference, how many babies we want to have, and what we were looking for in an eternal companion. Just jokes... we did talk about conference though and I was impressed by her testimony within minutes. I was pacing around the house as I talked to her. Nervous, yet anxious and excited, I enjoyed our first conversation and looked forward to the next.

We began texting each other the next day, if I'm not mistaking... just getting to know each other word by word and text by text. I was so excited to talk to her again and I told her I'd call her on Thursday to solidify our plans to go out that Friday. October 10.

Thursday night came and I was hanging out with some other girl buddies. I needed to call Jamie to finalize our Friday plans, so said I needed to step outside for a minute. Lucky my roomies were entertaining and were able to keep the attention of these girls. So right when I got outside I called Jamie. She answered and I was so stoked... I was also glad that the other girls were there so I didn't sound like the loser with no life, that Donny made me out to be. So I played the... "I'm busy right now" card "but I just wanted to call you as I said I would and tell you the plans for tomorrow..."

So we hear that Myspace is what you do when you're in High School, Facebook is what you do when you are in College, and Blogging is what you do when you are a celibrity and/or when you become married. Due to our recent relationship status change, we feel obliged to begin our blog. We'll just have to start separate blog when our social status changes to celebrity ;-) Cheers and love to all!
